Lead Medical Assistant

Job purpose

Works with Kids First Health Care administrative team and  providers ensure patient care objectives are met as well as clinical operation objectives. The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the clinic care teams in delivering health care services to pediatric and adolescent patients in a professional manner. The Lead Medical Assistant functions according to the clinical policies and procedures established by Kids First Health Care.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Vaccine Program Coordinator for all sites
  2. Assisting with training fellow Medical Assistants as needed
  3. Henry Schein medical supply order approval
  4. Office supply order excluding administrative supplies
  5. Clinic equipment calibration for all sites
  6. Assists Log in’s for all new MA’s
  7. Initial Clinic operations troubleshooting
  8. Aprima IT Troubleshooting
  9. Troubleshooting IT software for all sites
  10. LabCorp Billing Delegating
  11. Project Cure supply donations
  12. Clinic Operation Audits
  13. Operates as first level to go person
  14. Participates covering different clinic sites
  15. Assist with emergent/urgent problems with staff, be available over the phone
  16. Assist in clinic as a Medical Assistant
  17. Assist with related duties as required
  18. Verifies high standards of client care at all times and challenging others to poor practice
  19. Oversees Crash Cart inventory
  20. Oversees Oxygen Tanks
  21. Oversees equipment calibrations and maintenance including Vaccine Fridge, Vaccine Temp Loggers, Clinic Equipment, Audiometer, and Dental Equipment
  22. With Clinic Manager, coordinates Vaccine Emergency Plan including call schedule
  23. Project Cure Supply inventory
  24. Manages IT equipment and programs including printers, scanners, Ipads, inventories, interfaces (HeartSmart, APEX)


  • Fluency in Spanish (ability to translate medical terminology from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish to assist communication between providers and clients)

  • 2 years or more of Clinical Medical Assistant supervisory experience
  • Completion of Accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certified Medical Assistant Licensing current

Physical requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, and demonstrate manual dexterity. Light lifting may be required up to 50 lbs.

Standard Requirements

  • Experience with EMR
  • Basic Life Support certified
  • Reports to: Clinic Manager
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Starting pay: $16-$18 hourly (based on experience)
