Kids First is thrilled to welcome Eddie Valdez as the newest member of the Board of Directors!

Eddie Valdez is a dedicated public servant with over 20 years of experience in local government, serving communities across Arapahoe and Adams Counties. As Division Director of Operations & Community Connections at the Adams County Human Services Department, Eddie leads initiatives that strengthen community partnerships, improve operational effectiveness, and ensure responsible stewardship of public resources.

His professional background includes leadership development, contract and grant management, case management, and business and economic development. Eddie is deeply committed to advocating for the most vulnerable populations, working to ensure that services are accessible, compassionate, and responsive to real community needs. His values are rooted in public service and civic engagement, and he consistently supports efforts that build trust and collaboration between government and the people it serves.

In addition to his role at Adams County, Eddie serves on the volunteer board for the Local Government Hispanic Network (LGHN) Juntos Colorado Chapter and contributes to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Value Committee, helping guide long-term investments that reflect community priorities.

A Colorado native, Eddie earned his bachelor’s from Colorado State University–Pueblo. He and his wife, Vanessa, are raising three daughters, and he remains passionate about creating a stronger, more connected future for families across the region.

We are thrilled to welcome all of our patients back to school for the 2025-26 school year!

Students at our seven school-based health centers across Adams County can receive high quality, integrated health care services right inside their schools at no cost!

All patients, birth to 21, can receive high quality, integrated pediatric health care services at our community clinics in Commerce City, Westminster and Brighton on a year-round basis. We also have enrollment coordinators available to help families enroll in Medicaid and CHP+. No child is ever turned away for care, regardless of their circumstance.

We enjoyed connecting with so many families, and letting them know about the high quality, integrated health care services that are available to all children in 27J!

Did you know?
- ��Kids First operates a school-based health center inside @brightonhighschoolbulldogs that serves not only students inside BHS, but serves ALL patients from birth to 21 across the community!

This unique opportunity provides Brighton High School students with access to the clinic for medical, mental and dental health care services from inside of the building during the school day – and through state funding, their services are provided at no cost.

Community members with children from birth to 21 can access the clinic from the outside door, which is located at 850 East Egbert St. (between South 8th Ave. and South 9th Ave.).

For patients from the community, the clinic accepts Medicaid, CHP+, private insurance, as well as patients who are uninsured. No child is ever turned away due to a family’s circumstance or ability to pay.

Kids First Health Care had an amazing time welcoming families back for the 2025-26 school year at Adams 14's annual Back-to-School Resource Fair on Sunday, August 3! We enjoyed connecting with so many families, and letting them know about the high quality, integrated health care services that are available to all children in Adams 14.

Did you know?

- Kids First operates school-based health centers in all secondary schools in Adams 14, including Adams City High School, Lester Arnold High School, Adams City Middle School (Summit Heights Junior High) and Kearney Middle School! Students at these schools can access NO COST health care services during the day inside the school! Think of it as a doctors office conveniently located inside the school and exclusively serves the students at that school at no cost.

- Kids First has a community clinic that serves ALL patients from birth to 21 at 7190 Colorado Blvd., Suite 450. We are open year-round, and provide high quality, integrated medical and mental health care, as well as enrollment support with Medicaid and CHP+.

- Kids First also provides school nursing services in Adams 14, ensuring that students across the district receive exemplary care and are able to show up to class, ready to learn each day!

Kids First is thrilled to welcome Polly Anderson as the newest member of the Board of Directors!

Polly is the Vice President of Strategy and Financing at the Colorado Community Health Network, the association for Colorado’s Community Health Centers. Polly has more than 30 years experience in health policy, nonprofit management and communications.

Polly believes health care is a right and is very passionate about health care access and coverage. She lives in Wheat Ridge with her husband and daughters and has a menagerie of pets and animals on her urban farm.

Kids First is thrilled to welcome Tania Baxter as the newest member of the Board of Directors!

Tania, Founder of Baxter Enterprises, provides Fractional COO services to nonprofits and mission-driven businesses. A seasoned operations leader, she brings deep expertise in team development, organizational strategy, and equitable access initiatives.

Fluent in Spanish, Tania has a strong connection to the communities served by Kids First Health Care. She has designed and led programs that build partnerships between local farmers and food justice initiatives, helping expand access to nutritious food and essential services for underserved families. Her leadership has been recognized with the 2020 Leader of the Year award and the Business of the Year award from the City of Northglenn, Colorado.

Tania also serves on the advisory board for the UCCS Executive Women in Leadership program, helping to shape curriculum that supports the next generation of diverse leaders.

In 2024, she summited Mount Kilimanjaro, an experience that reflects her adventurous spirit, commitment to personal growth, and belief in the importance of work-life balance. For Tania, the climb was more than a challenge—it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when you push beyond perceived limits.

Kids First has officially opened its newest clinic

Kids First has officially opened its newest clinic - in partnership with Maiker Housing Partners - at 3075 W. 71st. Avenue in Westminster!

The clinic – which serves patients from birth to 21 – is conveniently located in the retail space at Maiker’s Alto Community.

Pediatric primary care services available include:
* Physical health – well child check ups, sports physicals, vaccines, reproductive health, sick visits, management of chronic disease such as asthma, and more.
* Mental health care – brief visits with a counselor, as well as one-on-one therapy.
* Enrollment in Medicaid and CHP+, and support accessing other immediate needs resources.

This is Kids First's ninth pediatric clinic, which is nestled within Maiker Housing Partners' Alto Community.

This unique co-location model is designed to disrupt generational poverty and enable more equitable health outcomes for all children.

We are so excited to start seeing patients (from birth to 21) in a few weeks!

WPS is an incredible partner, and we are inspired by their approach to education that supports the whole child so they can achieve their fullest potential!
