Nina McNeill, Medical Provider

Ms. McNeill started working for Kids First Health Care in December 1992–more than 25 years ago. She originally split her time between Adams City Middle School (ACMS) and Kearney Middle School (KMS). With additional staffing, she began working exclusively at ACMS in 2002. In her role, she provides health services to the enrolled students at ACMS, including acute primary care, well child exams, immunizations, health education, and health maintenance, with a focus on keeping students healthy and ready to learn. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, CO. Ms. McNeill is an avid advocate for school-based health centers, preventive health care, and health education for adolescents.

Sonia Cobos-Astorga, Medical Assistant

Ms. Cobos-Astorga has worked as medical assistant at Kids First Health Care for nearly six years. As the medical assistant at ACMS, she greets students, checks in patients, takes vitals, obtains medical histories, runs labs, and much more. In December 2005, she graduated from Westwood Community College and obtained her medical assisting certification. She has worked in the medical field since 2006 and has a wide range of experiences in the field–from pediatrics to family practice to geriatrics. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the Community College of Aurora. She loves helping patients and parents understand the importance of their health care. Ms. Cobos-Astorga is bilingual in English and Spanish. 

Bobbi Garcia-Abrego, Enrollment Coordinator

Ms. Garcia-Abrego has worked at Kids First Health Care since 2010. In her role as Enrollment Coordinator, she enrolls families and children in Medicaid, CHP+, and Kids First’s sliding scale; helps families sign up for Presumptive Eligibility (temporary Medicaid coverage); troubleshoots issues with public insurance enrollment; and provides referrals for community resources. Prior to serving at Kids First, she worked in medical billing, and in 2003, she obtained her medical assisting certification through Concorde Career College. Ms. Garcia-Abrego is bilingual in English and Spanish, and she adores serving her community.

Dr. Sarah Winbourn, Pediatrician

Dr. Winbourn, a graduate of Vanderbilt University Medical School, joined the staff of Kids First in September 2008 so she has also been with the agency for ten years. She completed her residency through the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center Pediatric Residency Program and has practiced at The Children’s Hospital Denver, Denver Health Medical Center and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In her role as Medical Director, Dr. Winbourn directs medical care at all Kids First clinics and oversees a staff of nine medical providers. Dr. Winbourn is bilingual in English and Spanish.
