Kids First is committed to increasing access to health care services by ensuring uninsured children gain access to health insurance coverage. We can help your family determine eligibility and enroll your child into the appropriate health insurance program so they can get the care they need. Our staff can assist your family in completing Medicaid and CHP+ applications and in navigating through the complex Medicaid and CHP+ enrollment systems. If you are not eligible for public health plans, Kids First offers a sliding fee scale that is based on household income.
Kids First is a certified site for Medicaid/ CHP+ application assistance and a certified Presumptive Eligibility (PE) Site, which enables us to grant temporary eligibility for our patients immediately. Our patients are then granted 45 days of eligibility while their applications are being processed.

Medicaid Information & Resources
Colorado Medicaid is public health insurance for low-income Coloradans who qualify. Colorado Medicaid is funded jointly by a federal-state partnership and is administered by the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.
You may qualify if you fall under one of the following categories:
- Children ages 0-18 whose household income does not exceed 142% Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
- Pregnant Women whose household income does not exceed 195% FPL
- Parents and Caretaker Relatives (you must have a dependent child) whose household income does not exceed 133% FPL
- Adults without dependent children whose household income does not exceed 133% FPL
- Are a United States citizen and Colorado resident
- Are an alien or immigrant who has been in the United States for at least five years*

CHP+ Information & Resources
Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) is public low-cost health insurance for certain children and pregnant women. It is for people who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to pay for private health insurance.
You must meet the following qualifications to get CHP+:
- Are under 19 years of age or are pregnant
- Are a United States citizen and Colorado resident
- Are an alien or immigrant who has been in the United States for at least five years*
- Don’t have other health insurance
- Meet income guidelines (For more information on income guidelines visit CHPPlus.org or call 1-800-359-1991)
*Refugees, Deportees, Asylees, Cuban or Haitian entrants and victims of trafficking are exceptions to the five year rule
