Health Care for Children Year-Round

Kids First Health Care provides health care services for infants, children and teens from birth to age 21 at the Commerce City clinic. The Commerce City location is accepting new patients and has no zip code requirements. Kids First also helps families apply for and renew health insurance coverage for children through the Health First CO (Medicaid) and CHP+ programs. Becky Lusk, Medical Provider

Ms. Lusk has served as a nurse practitioner with Kids First Health Care since 2004. As the medical provider at the Commerce City clinic, Ms. Lusk provides a variety of health care services, including well-child checks, care for acute illness and injuries, care for chronic conditions, and reproductive health care, for infants, children, and teens. She has more than 25 years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Lusk really enjoys watching patients grow from infancy to young adulthood and likes making connections with families over many years. She is passionate about the mission of Kids First and the families we serve. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and being outside.

Emily Human, Health Education Manager

Ms. Human joined Kids First after completing her master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Education from Saint Louis University in 2015. In her role as Health Education Manager, she supervises the health education team across all sites, oversees quality improvement efforts, and manages patient and clinic data. Previously, as a health educator, she worked directly with patients to provide one-on-one education on nutrition, asthma management and reproductive health.

Bobbi Garcia-Abrego, Enrollment Coordinator

Ms. Garcia-Abrego has worked at Kids First Health Care since 2010. In her role as Enrollment Coordinator, she enrolls families and children in Medicaid, CHP+, and Kids First’s sliding scale; helps families sign up for Presumptive Eligibility (temporary Medicaid coverage); troubleshoots issues with public insurance enrollment; and provides referrals for community resources. Prior to serving at Kids First, she worked in medical billing, and in 2003, she obtained her medical assisting certification through Concorde Career College. Ms. Garcia-Abrego is bilingual in English and Spanish, and she adores serving her community.

Areli Cupp, Health Educator

Areli joined Kids First in March of 2022 as a health educator for the community clinic at Commerce City. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2016. She gained experience as a health educator supporting the university wellness initiatives, working as a sexual health peer educator and has lead grants for community health at a county level. At Kids First, Areli provides education to patients on reproductive health, nutrition, and asthma management. She is a native Spanish speaker and loves working with the Latino population.
