Amber Smith, Health Educator

Ms. Smith joined Kids First Health Care in September 2018 as a health educator at Thornton High School (THS). Ms. Smith provides one-on-one education on reproductive health, pregnancy prevention nutrition, physical activity, and care for chronic conditions to THS students. She also facilitates the VOIHCE Youth Advisory Board for the THS school-based health center and helps run skill-building workshops in collaboration with the behavioral health provider. She is working towards a master’s degree in public health at the Colorado School of Public Health.

Rebeca Nunez, Medical Front Desk

Ms. Nunez joined the Kids First Health Care team in August 2019. In her role at THS, she checks in patients, books appointments, answers the phones, handles clinical paperwork, and more. She attended Emily Griffith Technical College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant in April 2019. She has worked in multiple positions in the healthcare field, including gastroenterology, OB/ GYN, pediatrics, family medicine and home health services. She is a Colorado native who graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. She has a 13 year old son who plays football and baseball so she spends pretty much all of her free time watching him play. 

Dr. Sarah Winbourn, Pediatrician

Dr. Winbourn, a graduate of Vanderbilt University Medical School, joined the staff of Kids First in September 2008 so she has also been with the agency for ten years. She completed her residency through the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center Pediatric Residency Program and has practiced at The Children’s Hospital Denver, Denver Health Medical Center and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In her role as Medical Director, Dr. Winbourn directs medical care at all Kids First clinics and oversees a staff of nine medical providers. Dr. Winbourn is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Anaiz Sotelo

Anaiz Sotelo, Clinic Operations Manager

Ms. Sotelo has worked at Kids First for more than three years. She currently serves as the Clinic Operations Manager. In this role, she coordinates the dental programming at BHS, THS, and ACHS; manages various IT projects; and assists with administrative tasks. Previously, she worked as a certified medical assistant for nine years and has experience in family practice, orthopedics, aesthetics, and pediatric practices.

Jessy Perz, Medical Provider

Ms. Perz joined the staff of Kids First Health Care as a nurse practitioner in 2019. As the nurse practitioner at Thornton High School (THS), she provides a variety of health care services, including acute care, annual physicals, asthma care, and reproductive health services, to THS and Bollman Technical Education Center (BTEC) students. She graduated from University of Colorado School of Nursing in May 2019 with a Master of Science, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner degree. She also has an active RN license for the state of Colorado.

Cassie Gabriel , Behavioral Health Professional

An employee of Community Reach Center, Ms. Gabriel joined the THS clinical team in December 2019. In 2013, Ms. Gabriel graduated from George Washington University with a Master of Art Therapy degree. She is a registered art therapist and a licensed professional counselor, who provides mental health services to THS and BTEC students.
