Kids First Health Care Announces New Executive Director

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (March 13, 2019) – After conducting a thorough search for executive director candidates, Kids First Health Care’s (Kids First) Board of Directors is excited to announce that Whitney Gustin Connor will become the agency’s new Executive Director in mid-April. A champion of equitable and accessible health care for children, Ms. Gustin Connor will bring her extensive experience in health care and the nonprofit sector and her inspiring vision to the 40-year old nonprofit agency.

For the past ten years, Ms. Gustin Connor has served as a Senior Program Officer in Health at the Rose Community Foundation. In this role, Ms. Gustin Connor directed grant-making efforts for nonprofit organizations working to improve Colorado’s health care system. Over the years, the Rose Community Foundation has supported Kids First’s work to expand access to high-quality health care for children and teens in Adams County and beyond.

Prior to serving at the Rose Community Foundation, Ms. Gustin Connor worked as a consultant with Cape Cod Healthcare’s school-based health center program in Massachusetts. In addition, she has experience as a nonpartisan policy analyst with the Colorado General Assembly and a planning/grants specialist with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado.

“The Board of Directors and the entire team at Kids First is excited and blessed to be welcoming Whitney Gustin Connor as the new Executive Director,” said Curtis Stepan, Kid First’s Board President. “Whitney’s support and understanding of our mission as well as her passion for the health and wellbeing of Colorado’s children will be invaluable to Kids First. Please join me and the entire board in welcoming Whitney to the Kids First community.”

Ms. Gustin Connor is passionate about Kids First’s mission. “I’m thrilled to join a team of committed staff and board members dedicated to serving the needs of Adams County infants, children and youth,” said Whitney Gustin Connor. “Together with Kids First’s community partners we’ll build upon the organization’s long history and ensure kiddos receive the medical, dental and mental health care they need.”

Entering its 41st year, Kids First seeks to build on its legacy as the first organization to open a school-based health center in Colorado while meeting the current health care needs of children in the community. Kids First recently opened two new locations in Thornton and Brighton. Looking towards the future, Kids First’s Board aims to solidify and strengthen existing operations so that the agency can continue to provide the highest quality of care possible while also supporting the recent expansion of its operations to serve more children and youth. Ms. Gustin Connor looks forward to leading the agency through this exciting transition.

Ms. Gustin Connor will be available for interviews beginning April 17, 2019.
